Glitter and Be Gay by Leonard Bernstein

Composition:
Glitter and Be Gay by Leonard Bernstein

Performers:
Alicia Jordheim, soprano and Craig Combs, piano

Concert:
February 2020

Program Note:
“Glitter and Be Gay” is one of Bernstein’s most famous compositions taken from the operetta, “Candide”. The aria is one of the most difficult works to ever be written for the theater. The title of this work gives the listener a sense of what to expect and Alicia Jordheim literally glitters as she sings this Bernstein favorite.
