For anyone who grew up near the Monument, it carries a particular feeling — almost like growing up beside a castle.

“Our Writers Group,” initiated by Peter Cook and meeting weekly at the Provincetown Commons for several years, is a diverse group of five talented writers who share stories of growing up and living in Provincetown. Through heartwarming anecdotes and humorous escapades, they preserve local history through lived experience — painting a nostalgic picture of the past and present as they move through the days and back through the years.

Current members include Peter Cook, Mel Joseph, Avis Johnson, Sheila Colburn, Tonya Cook and Katherine Rossmoore.

This event is free and open to the public. The Shallop Bar will be open before the program begins — come up early, grab a refreshment, and join us On The Hill for an evening of stories about growing up in the shadow of the Monument, while seated in its very shadow.
