This exhibition examines the relationship between the Provincetown Portuguese and the artists of the local art colony. Featuring artwork and other material from the collections of the Provincetown Art Collection, Helen and Napi Van Dereck, Provincetown Portuguese Festival and the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum. The Playwright of Peaked Hill Bars

Through more than 70 items, including photographs, historical documents and artifacts, the exhibition will address how O’Neill nurtured his creative voice living in this outermost fishing village and art colony at the end of Cape Cod.

Peter Hunt


May 20 through November 30, 2005

Selection of Artwork by the Provincetown Folk Artist. In the early 1940’s Peter Hunt established a workshop called Peter Hunt’s Peasant Village in Provincetown. Employing as many as a dozen local people as apprentices, Hunt became famous for adapting the bold brushstrokes of folk designs to decorate and brighten junk-shop furniture.
